Kids Sail Program
A summer of real sailing on New York Harbor. Kids learn to rig, steer, trim, and skipper a sailboat with the crew at Brooklyn Bridge Sail Club. Choose a morning or afternoon session, Monday through Friday.
What Your Sailor Will Learn
Our curriculum builds real seamanship, from first knots to taking the helm. By the end of the summer, kids know their way around a sailboat.
Sailing Fundamentals
Points of sail, steering with the tiller, and trimming the mainsail and jib.
Navigation & Rules of the Road
Buoys, channel markers, right of way, and how to plot a course and plan a sail.
Essential Knots
Bowline, figure eight, square knot, slipknot, and clove hitch.
Boat Handling
Rigging and de-rigging, tacking, jibing, heaving-to, and basic outboard engine operation.
Skippering
Running the boat and leading a crew, with growing responsibility as skills develop.
Safety & Seamanship
Crew overboard recovery drills (no swimming involved) and the habits of a safe, confident sailor.
Two Sessions Every Day
Choose the session that fits your family’s day. Each one follows a rhythm sailors would recognize: plan, rig, sail, and debrief.
