Debrief- Racing 05/01/25

Thank you RC – Ivan Mrazovic, TJ Shea, Vadim Vorobyov and John (Harriet’s friend).

Wednesday

  • Perfect conditions – sunny and 10 to 15 knots. Strong ebb current
  • Windward mark skewed – needed to think about a quick set and gybe, gybe set or slow down, delay the set and wait for traffic to clear and then set an gybe.
  • Spinnaker feet (foots) getting wet. Reaching too high, trimming too hard – if the foot catches a wave it can overload the foot and permanently damage the spinnaker. Wet sail storage over the winter may weaker the seams.
  • Make sure you load main sail battens in the dock and the skinny end goes towards the luff. Do it on docks and ensure the velcro is rubbed hard on.

Thursday

  • Perfect conditions – sunny and 10 to 15 knots. Changing direction of ebb current in the Flats
  • Congrats to Boat #3 who port tacked the entire fleet. Daring move, wind direction and current all aligned.
