Decommissioning

Decommissioning of the fleet has been completed. Many thanks to all those who help including Tom Woll and Joe Just.

What happens in decommissioning?

  • Sails are inspected, battens are taken out and sails bricked for storage or delivery to the sail loft.
  • Melges masts are unstepped. Masts are cleaned and rinsed, halyards are dead ended and wrapped.
  • Booms are removed, cleaned and stored for the winter
  • All removable blocks and lines are removed and rinsed
  • Engines are topped up with fuel additives awaiting final use for the delivery trip
  • Boat are sealed up for the winter
  • Repairs and replacements parts are noted for Spring Commissioning (coming soon).

Our objective is the protect the boats from the elements in the winter and have them as ready as possible for the Spring Commissioning to get the fleet up and running as soon as conditions permit.
