Robbins Reef

We were just updating our weather links on the Sail Club portal and did a bit more research on Robbins Reef. The weather station at Robbins Reef is our reference point for wind and weather conditions in New York Harbor.

Here is the link for real time weather – we have found the data refreshes more frequently than Wind Alert  our old standby for weather information. https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/met.html?id=8530973

For all you history buffs – Robbins Reef was originally named Robyns Rift by early Dutch settlers in New York as it was a gathering for seals (source: https://noblemaritime.org/robbins-reef-lighthouse-a-home-in-the-harbor). The actual lighthouse is now being restored as a museum by the Noble Maritime Collection under the United States Lighthouse Preservation Act.
